Perfect Pitch Methodology™
A Syncopate team building workshop begins well before the presentation date and consists of seven distinct phases:
Event Survey
We meet with key stakeholders (executives, HR, team managers) to determine the key problems and challenges facing the team as well as the desired outcomes for their employees.
Custom Program Development
Based on the results of the survey, we create a customized workshop program that will achieve long-term success when measured against the desired outcomes. This motivational program includes a specific challenge to the participants, which could involve the creation of an engineering, research, marketing, sales or other subject-specific plan.
Team Challenge
This is the initial part of the actual workshop. Using musical composition as a metaphor for the team’s key challenge, we task your employees with mixing a track (no musical knowledge required!). To accomplish this, each member will need to innovate, cooperate, negotiate and interact with members of his or her subteam, as well as with members in other subteams.
Create & Negotiate
Assisted by our expert DJs and state-of-the-art digital equipment, team members start creating and mixing their compositions. Individuals experience first-hand how people with completely different tastes and preferences in music can work together as a team, in a short period of time, to forge a professional composition.
Perform
Subteams actually perform (using the equipment—no embarrassing karaoke here) their compositions and participants in the workshop vote on favorites. We also offer an option to have people at the company vote on their favorites.
Assessment and Reflection
We debrief participants on their compositional experiences during the workshop. We place an emphasis on having each team member describe how much easier cooperation was and how much faster progress occurred once they focused more on the task itself and less on the externalities of the task.
Improve
Participants each identify the biggest change in their perceptions about teamwork and cooperation. By comparing initial viewpoints with concluding ones, team members learn that many feared obstacles need not occur when immersed in a task and focused on its outcome. Members further learn how to recognize and overcome these issues in day-to-day communication with other team members, whether in the office or in a virtual environment.
